The roads in question, under the jurisdiction of R&B Divisions II and III, have reportedly gone without maintenance for over a year and a half. Potholes, exacerbated by recent rains, now pose significant risks to motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders who navigate the area, especially at night. Despite regular collection of road taxes, residents feel abandoned by safety agencies that fail to enforce maintenance agreements with contractors.<\/p>\n
Concerns over misuse of funds have also surfaced, alleging that while bills for maintenance are routinely approved, little of the allocated funds actually reach critical repair efforts. Residents of Janipur Colony, Roopnagar, and Bantalab have appealed to Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu, Rajesh Gupta, urging swift intervention.<\/p>\n
In response, Chief Engineer Gupta assured that tender processes for road maintenance are imminent, alongside existing agreements ranging from one to three years with contractors. Gupta pledged to instruct the Executive Engineer to expedite repairs on the Janipur-Bantalab-Kot Bhalwal stretch, acknowledging the urgent need for action.<\/p>\n
