In a significant step towards revolutionizing agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory has received approval for projects worth \u20b9117.58 crore<\/strong> aimed at enhancing agricultural infrastructure and sustainability. The announcement was made by Minister of Agriculture Production, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj Departments<\/strong>, Javed Ahmad Dar, during a high-level meeting held today.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Secretary APD Shailendra Kumar<\/strong> and other senior officers. The Minister emphasized that these landmark projects<\/strong> will boost agricultural infrastructure<\/strong>, improve irrigation efficiency<\/strong>, and ensure a sustainable agricultural ecosystem<\/strong> across the Union Territory.<\/p>\n

Key Projects Approved Under NABARD<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Animal Husbandry Projects:<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • 12 Projects<\/strong> have been approved with a sanctioned budget of \u20b94067.04 lakh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Construction and upgradation of 11 veterinary hospitals<\/strong> and 1 training institute<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Key developments include:\n
        \n
      • Construction of District Veterinary Hospitals<\/strong> at Bandipora<\/strong>, Ganderbal<\/strong>, and Anantnag<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Upgradation of veterinary hospitals in Kishtwar<\/strong>, Bhaderwah<\/strong>, Samba<\/strong>, Kathua<\/strong>, Gujjar Colony Jammu<\/strong>, Kalakote<\/strong>, Pargwal<\/strong>, and other districts.<\/li>\n
      • Establishment of a Para-Vet Training Development Centre<\/strong> at Shalteng, Srinagar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Modern Infrastructure for Agricultural Universities<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • State-of-the-art hostels<\/strong> at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir)<\/strong> have been sanctioned at a cost of \u20b93051.65 lakh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Focus on Irrigation and Water Management<\/strong><\/p>\n

          • 14 Command Area Development & Water Management (CADWM) projects<\/strong> approved with a budget of \u20b94639.31 lakh<\/strong>.\n

            • Key initiatives include:\n
                \n
              • Tapping perennial natural water sources<\/strong> in Udhampur<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
              • Construction of field channels<\/strong> in Kathua<\/strong>, Baramulla<\/strong>, and other districts.<\/li>\n
              • Rehabilitation of existing irrigation systems<\/strong> in Kulgam<\/strong>, Pulwama<\/strong>, and Srinagar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Enhancing Rural Prosperity<\/strong><\/p>\n

                Minister Javed Dar highlighted that these projects will:<\/p>\n

                • Provide modern training facilities<\/strong>, veterinary care<\/strong>, and resource management<\/strong> for farmers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
