He highlighted that these refugees were even provided <strong data-start=\"358\" data-end=\"392\">assistance for rehabilitation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"396\" data-end=\"672\">\ud83d\udd39 <strong data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"452\">Unanswered Questions on Refugees &amp; Electoral Roll<\/strong><br data-start=\"452\" data-end=\"455\" \/>Singh, who resigned as CM in February, leading to the <strong data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"554\">imposition of President\u2019s Rule in Manipur<\/strong>, questioned the fate of these refugee families and whether they were <strong data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"669\">eventually included in the electoral roll<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"1013\">\ud83d\udcac <em data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"1011\">\u201cEven before we became a full-fledged state, thousands of refugees were settled here. Records from the late 1960s and early 70s show the presence of <strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"850\">over 1,500 families<\/strong> who crossed over and received assistance for rehabilitation. But what happened to them? Were they granted full rights? Were they added to the electoral rolls?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1015\" data-end=\"1414\">\ud83d\udd39 <strong data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1062\">BJP Leaders Push for NRC &amp; Census Review<\/strong><br data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1065\" \/>Singh\u2019s remarks come <strong data-start=\"1086\" data-end=\"1188\">a day after BJP MLAs in Manipur demanded a review of the 2001 Census and the implementation of NRC<\/strong> before conducting a delimitation exercise. The letter, dated 1967, confirms the presence of <strong data-start=\"1656\" data-end=\"1698\">over 1,500 refugee families in Manipur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1970\">\ud83d\udd39 <strong data-start=\"1706\" data-end=\"1747\">\u201cManipur \u2013 A Refugee Dumping Ground?\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"1750\" \/>Singh raised concerns about whether Manipur was treated as a <strong data-start=\"1811\" data-end=\"1866\">dumping ground for refugees from the very beginning<\/strong> and questioned whether these individuals were extended benefits meant for <strong data-start=\"1941\" data-end=\"1967\">indigenous communities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1972\" data-end=\"2217\">\ud83d\udcac <em data-start=\"1975\" data-end=\"2215\">\u201cThese are not minor issues. They touch the very core of our identity, social balance, and the future direction of our society.
