Working to Improve Ratio, Assembly Told"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"241\" data-end=\"535\">The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the Legislative Assembly today that the Union Territory currently has <strong data-start=\"378\" data-end=\"417\">one doctor for every 1,880 patients<\/strong>, acknowledging the strain on healthcare services while outlining ongoing efforts to improve the doctor-patient ratio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"537\" data-end=\"888\">In a <strong data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"559\">written reply<\/strong> to a question raised by <strong data-start=\"584\" data-end=\"624\">MLA Wagoora-Kreeri, Irfan Hafiz Lone<\/strong>, the Minister In-charge of the <strong data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"706\">Health and Medical Education (H&amp;ME) Department<\/strong> stated that the department is continuously referring vacancies for <strong data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"819\">Medical Officers and Assistant Professors<\/strong> to the <strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"860\">J&amp;K Public Service Commission<\/strong> in a bid to bridge the gap.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"950\">\ud83d\udc68\u200d\u2695\ufe0f <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"950\">Recruitments Underway to Strengthen Healthcare<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"1234\">The reply noted that <strong data-start=\"973\" data-end=\"997\">365 Medical Officers<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1030\">105 Assistant Professors<\/strong> have recently been appointed. In addition to regular recruitments, the Government is also availing services of healthcare professionals on a <strong data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1233\">contractual basis under the National Health Mission (NHM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1236\" data-end=\"1259\">As per the data shared:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1421\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1283\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1283\"><strong data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1280\">96 Specialists<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1284\" data-end=\"1328\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1328\"><strong data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1321\">418 Allopathic Medical Officers<\/strong>, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1329\" data-end=\"1421\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1421\"><strong data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1361\">874 AYUSH Medical Officers<\/strong><br data-start=\"1361\" data-end=\"1364\" \/>are currently serving across Jammu and Kashmir under NHM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1423\" data-end=\"1719\">The Minister added that as per <strong data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1495\">Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS)<\/strong> norms, staffing requirements for <strong data-start=\"1529\" data-end=\"1609\">Primary Health Centres (PHCs), New Type PHCs (NTPHCs), and Sub-Centres (SCs)<\/strong> are mostly met. However, there is <strong data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"1689\">no provision for specialists at PHC level<\/strong> under the current guidelines.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1721\" data-end=\"1784\">\ud83c\udfe5 <strong data-start=\"1728\" data-end=\"1784\">Healthcare Facilities in Wagoora-Kreeri Constituency<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1961\">In response to a query regarding medical infrastructure in the <strong data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1880\">Wagoora-Kreeri Constituency<\/strong>, the Government reported the existence of <strong data-start=\"1923\" data-end=\"1949\">17 health institutions<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1962\" data-end=\"2209\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1962\" data-end=\"1981\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"1981\"><strong data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"1978\">CHC Kreeri<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"2021\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2021\"><strong data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"1992\">PHCs<\/strong> at Kalantra and Shrakwara,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2022\" data-end=\"2074\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2074\"><strong data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2034\">NTPHCs<\/strong> at K. Muqam, Nowpora, and Dudbug, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2075\" data-end=\"2209\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2077\" data-end=\"2209\"><strong data-start=\"2077\" data-end=\"2084\">SCs<\/strong> at Bulgam, Authoora, Chinned, Wagoora, Shaikhpora, Sherpora, Sultanpora, Walraman, Tangwari Bala, Waripora Bala, and Nilser.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2211\" data-end=\"2544\">These institutions provide <strong data-start=\"2238\" data-end=\"2293\">free screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)<\/strong> such as <strong data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2328\">diabetes, hypertension<\/strong>, and various forms of <strong data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2386\">cancer (oral, breast, cervical)<\/strong>. Essential <strong data-start=\"2398\" data-end=\"2427\">medicines and diagnostics<\/strong> are also provided at no cost \u2014 <strong data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2491\">175 drugs and 39 diagnostics<\/strong> at PHCs, and <strong data-start=\"2505\" data-end=\"2536\">96 drugs and 14 diagnostics<\/strong> at SCs.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2546\" data-end=\"2606\">\ud83c\udfd7\ufe0f <strong data-start=\"2554\" data-end=\"2606\">Infrastructure Development and Upgradation Plans<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2608\" data-end=\"2860\">On the question of infrastructure expansion, the H&amp;ME Department confirmed that <strong data-start=\"2688\" data-end=\"2733\">administrative approval has been accorded<\/strong> for the construction of <strong data-start=\"2758\" data-end=\"2803\">additional floors (G+2) at SDH\/CHC Kreeri<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"2809\" data-end=\"2837\">tendering is in progress<\/strong> by the R&amp;B Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2862\" data-end=\"3225\">However, the <strong data-start=\"2875\" data-end=\"2900\">Sub-Centre at Wagoora<\/strong> does <strong data-start=\"2906\" data-end=\"2936\">not meet the IPHS criteria<\/strong> for upgradation to <strong data-start=\"2956\" data-end=\"2965\">NTPHC<\/strong>.
