The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation do not providing details required to determine the current cost of the power projects which it intended to take over by the newly elected govt of Jammu and Kashmir.\u00a0\u00a0NHPC didn\u2019t furnish details for working out the present cost of hydroelectric projects which it intends to take-over.\u00a0In 2011, NC- Congress government had formed a cabinet sub- committee to look into various issues arising from the terms and conditions of entrustment of hydroelectric projects to NHPC. The CSC had recommended taking over Salal, Dulhasti, Uri-I and other hydroelectric projects transferred to NHPC through a Memorandum of Understanding it signed with the J&K government in July 2000. The State Power Development Corporation (SPDC) sought requisite details from NHPC to enable it to work out the present cost of these projects. However, in response to letters, NHPC sought a copy of the report of the cabinet sub- committee, which was furnished to it June 26, 2012 with a request to furnish these details. Thereafter, NHPC neither responded to the repeated requests so far nor did it appear to do so to take the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee to their logical conclusion.\u00a0Jammu and Kashmir has several hydroelectric power projects, including Salal, Baglihar, Ratle, Dulhasti, and Kishanganga, with plans for further expansion and diversification of energy sources beyond hydropower.\u00a0Ratle Hydroelectric Project\u00a0is a\u00a0joint venture between the centre and J&K.\u00a0J&K has many other Hydroelectric Projects included Kiru: A 624 MW project on the Chenab river.\u00a0 Kwar: A 540 MW project on the Chenab river.\u00a0 Pakal Dul: A 1000 MW project on the Marusudar River.\u00a0 Uri-I and Uri-II: Hydroelectric projects on the Jhelum River.\u00a0 Sewa-II: A hydroelectric project.\u00a0Chenani Hydroelectric Project: On the River Tawi tributary of Chenab.\u00a0 Chenani-III Hydroelectric Project: On the Tawi.\u00a0 Chutak Hydroelectric Project: On the Suru River.\u00a0 Lower Jhelum Hydroelectric Project:\u00a0 Upper Sindh Hydroelectric Project:\u00a0 Nimoo Bazgo Hydroelectric Project:\u00a0 Sawalkote Hydroelectric Power Project\u00a0<\/b>but the people\u00a0\u00a0of\u00a0\u00a0Jammu and Kashmir not getting benefit from the these power projects after the\u00a0\u00a0J&K State bifurcated into two union Territories\u00a0\u00a0centre govt\u00a0\u00a0in 2019, J&K is purchasing ever single unit from NHPC and Power Grid Corporation at high rate with the result the consumers are facing additional burden on them. Besides, surplus Power Production in J&K,\u00a0\u00a0cost of power unit is very high from the neighbouring states. if NHPC handed over power projects to J&K govt, the Jammu and Kashmir will have surplus power and\u00a0\u00a0people will get power\u00a0\u00a0at cheaper rates.<\/p>\n
