The\u00a0 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan\u00a0<\/strong>or Drug-Free J&K Campaign, is a Union Territory wide flagship initiative by the\u00a0Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment<\/a>\u00a0to combat substance abuse. Five years ago on August 15, 2020, it\u00a0\u00a0was launched but till date could not able to control the\u00a0\u00a0drug abuse. The campaign was initially launched in 272 of the districts identified as most vulnerable based on data from a national survey and the Narcotics Control Bureau\u00a0\u00a0across the country. It has since expanded to cover all districts across the country.\u00a0\u00a0The implementation is led by District Level Nasha Mukt Committees and involves collaboration between various government departments, spiritual organizations, and civil society.\u00a0\u00a0As of late 2025, the campaign has sensitized over 20.63 crore individuals nationwide, including 6.29 crore youth and 4.14 crore women. Over 27.76 lakh individuals have received treatment, and more than 5.71 lakh educational institutions have participated in awareness activities. Citizens can take an online “Nasha Mukti Sankalp” pledge via the official website to show their commitment to a drug-free India.\u00a0\u00a0On ground zero its effect is zero but the government maintains that the results of the NMBA have been “very encouraging” and continues to expand its reach and initiatives.
