Adarsh Pal Gupta founded PIR PANCHAL NEWS LINE in 1976 and transformed it into one of the most influential print and digital media organizations in Jammu & Kashmir. Under his leadership, the group has grown to reach over one million monthly readers across print and digital platforms.
He successfully led the digital transformation of the organization, achieving more than 300% growth in online readership and building social media platforms with over one million subscribers . Today, the media group operates a daily newspaper and multiple digital channels with a professional team of 75+ journalists, editors and technical staff .
Editor-in-Chief – PIR PANCHAL NEWS LINE
As Editor-in-Chief, he has directed newsroom operations for decades, introducing multimedia storytelling and modern journalism practices that increased digital engagement by over 200% . He has personally overseen coverage of 15 state elections , national political developments, defence affairs and major natural disasters.
Senior Political Correspondent – Doordarshan (1982 – 2022)
For four decades, Adarsh Pal Gupta served as a senior political correspondent with Doordarshan , India’s national broadcaster. He conducted more than 500 live broadcasts , hosted a weekly political analysis programme, and interviewed top national leaders, ministers and senior officials. He also specialised in defence reporting for 12 years .
