Maintaining Law and order in Jammu and Kashmir becomes big challenge for the Lt Governor J&K. The present condition of it is going bad to worst. Robberies, Shoot- out, raping minors are new crime added to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after it has been downgraded from State to Union Territory. Despite elected govt in J&K, Raj Bhawan J&K has given responsibility of maintaining law and order by the Centre govt but Raj Bhawan is totally failed to maintain it. It is now worst then the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi in Jammu. Amid growing panic among locals, the Jammu & Kashmir Police assured them of security and a safe environment to pursue their livelihoods without fear or intimidation” in the Jammu Valley. Unaware of things happening in Jammu, the security agencies have considering every one as suspects so far. However, J&K Lieutenant Governor directed that the security grid should be strengthened to check the crime incidents in Jammu uin two security related meetings at Srinagar and Jammu. It is observed that during the last four years, crime,robbery and Shoot out m, Chain & Mobile snatching incidents are on rise in Jammu. People’s are feeling insecure during nights and trying to remain at home for their own safety and security. With the increase in crime, J&K police is also fighting with the rumour, drugs and cybercrime. As per the NCRB data 80 percent non locals were involved in heinous crime incidents in Jammu in 2024. Nowadays, J&K state turned into ‘badhaal’ UT from ‘Khushal’ state. One of the major reason behind it Raj Bhawan, J&K believe on non-local senior police officers and civil officers but on the other hands, J&K residents do not feel secure since 2019 when the law and order was not remained state subject in J&K. Both honest & dedicating Police officers are denied prime postings in the J&K UT. With the result, Crime graphs going upwards in Jammu province especially in the City of temples. Centre and Lt Governor must the stop this experiments as J&K is not a laboratory it is one of the most sensitive state of India. Both centre govt and Lt Governor should review their style of working in J&K UT and must take Ex DGPs J&K, local BJP leaderships and all stake holder on board before taking any decision on J&K UT.
