Mumbai — A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning when at least 10 passengers fell from an overcrowded local train approaching Mumbra station from Kasara, resulting in one fatality and nine injuries, according to the Thane Municipal Corporation.The mishap took place around 9:20 am near Mumbra railway station. The injured were immediately taken to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, located approximately 4 km from the site. Officials present at the hospital included disaster management officer Yasin Tadvi, medical superintendent Dr. Malgaonkar, and Kalwa police inspector. A dedicated medical team is currently treating the injured.Initial findings suggest that the train was severely overcrowded, with several passengers dangerously hanging from the doors. As the train neared the station, some of them reportedly lost balance and fell.
The accident has led to disruption of local train services on the affected line, inconveniencing many daily commuters. An official inquiry has been launched to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the incident. Authorities have also issued warnings, urging passengers to avoid hazardous travel habits to ensure their safety.
