What will happen if deforestation continues?. The clearing of trees and forests, has significant societal impacts, including habitat destruction, biodiversity loss, climate change, and disruptions to water cycles and livelihoods, particularly for indigenous communities. The extinction of the forests cover affects the biodiversity which in turn threaten peoples lives. Shrinking forests cause wide-reaching problems like soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, water cycle disruption, greenhouse gas emissions, changes in the climatic conditions, and loss of biodiversity. There was a time when we worship trees now we cut them brutally. We are vanishing our green gold day by day just for our needs resulting in climate effects. In Jammu and Kashmir , crores of age old trees were killed along Highways. NHAI has compromised with the nature and destroyed this green gold. We are destroying natural forests just to use the land for building, extraction of oil, mining and build Highways. We all know that trees help to maintain the water cycle and give shelter to the organisms. It takes place in an area that is densely populated by trees and is mostly observed in a forest like the Amazon rainforest. Forests cover almost 30% of the earth’s land. Air Quality Index of Jammu City reached at alarming even in winters. Killing of forests for a variety of reasons has many devastating consequences in future. One of the most dangerous and unsettling effects of deforestation is the loss of animal and plant species due to their loss of habitat. Data reveals that 70% of land animals and plant species live in forests. Not only does deforestation threaten species known to us, but also those unknown. The trees of the rainforest that provide shelter for some species also provide the canopy that regulates the temperature. Deforestation results in a more drastic temperature variation from day to night, much like a desert, which could prove fatal for many inhabitants. The killing of forests has an immediate and direct effect on their lifestyle. In order to balance the nature we must force the govt to plant more trees which is taking carbon dioxide and give us oxygen all along the highways. Mass campaign be launched to plant tree and forests department be asked to take care of those trees. We can protect ourselves by making vertical gardens in the city these money should be spent on planting trees along Highways and govt lands across Jammu and Kashmir known as Himalayan state of India.
