Despite spending crore of rupees on campaigning against drug abuse across the union territotry every year. Administration launched a Nasha Mukt Bharat awareness program every year in Schools. But, the campaign could not yield any result, the drug abuse has reached in every nook and corner of the J&K. The administration can not make a drug-free J&K unless every concerned Station Police officer and Incharge Police Post would not make accountable. Every household want that J&K should be a drug-free but the growing challenge of drug addiction and emphasized the need for collective and sustained efforts to safeguard youth from this menace. Parents, teachers to remain vigilant, By organising awareness programs no one can make a drug free society. The police strike on the main citadel or kigpin who is supplying drugs to the students even women. Every Station House officer and Incharge Police Post be made accountable if any body found selling or supplying drugs in their jurdication action will only be taken against errying police officers. Unfortunately, it is found that they never come out from their Thanns or Chowki for random cheching in their areas. Police understood that the crucial role of police–community partnerships is must to curb drug trafficking and ensuring a healthy, safe social environment. The “Nasha Mukt Bharat” should not be a campaign in various schools, but administration must come out wth policey to deal with this abuse in the society. The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan or Drug-Free J&K Campaign, is a Union Territory wide flagship initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to combat substance abuse. Five years ago on August 15, 2020, it was launched but till date could not able to control the drug abuse. The campaign was initially launched in 272 of the districts identified as most vulnerable based on data from a national survey and the Narcotics Control Bureau across the country. It has since expanded to cover all districts across the country. The implementation is led by District Level Nasha Mukt Committees and involves collaboration between various government departments, spiritual organizations, and civil society. As of late 2025, the campaign has sensitized over 20.63 crore individuals nationwide, including 6.29 crore youth and 4.14 crore women. Over 27.76 lakh individuals have received treatment, and more than 5.71 lakh educational institutions have participated in awareness activities. Citizens can take an online “Nasha Mukti Sankalp” pledge via the official website to show their commitment to a drug-free India. On ground zero its effect is zero but the government maintains that the results of the NMBA have been “very encouraging” and continues to expand its reach and initiatives. The program operates under the framework of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction. Nasha Mukt Bharat has become simply a campaign unless the govt made every police officers accountable in their juridication.
