JAMMU, Nov 8 : Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, lauds para archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar, along with coach Abhilasha Choudhary, presenting them with Certificates of Excellence. Sinha praised their unwavering determination, highlighting its potential to foster a vibrant sporting culture in the Union Territory. Sheetal Devi, a young armless archer, recently made history by winning two gold medals during the Asian Para Games in China, securing gold in the women’s individual compound event and the compound mixed team event with Rakesh Kumar. This remarkable 16-year-old athlete also earned a silver medal in the women’s doubles compound event. Rakesh Kumar secured a brilliant silver medal in the men’s individual compound archery competition and, alongside Suraj Singh, clinched a silver medal in the men’s doubles compound open event. Manoj Sinha commended their extraordinary achievements at the 4th Asian Para Games, emphasizing that they have become a source of inspiration for the youth and a source of pride for the entire Union Territory. He believes that Sheetal and Rakesh’s winning spirit will help promote a robust sports culture in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, the Lt. Governor expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, coaches, and academy support staff in the advancement of sports within the Union Territory. The event was attended by Principal Secretary to the Lt. Governor, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, and Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Anshul Garg.
