PP NEWS LINE DESK: In a major action against the drug menace, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property valued at around ₹50 lakh under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The property, comprising a single-storey house built on 5 marlas and 68 square feet of land (Khasra No. 339), belongs to Waseem Ahmad Bafanda, son of Ghulam Ahmad Bafanda, a resident of Lachmanpora, Dandrkha, Batamaloo.
The attachment is linked to Case FIR No. 1/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Zadibal, in which Bafanda is the prime accused. Described as a notorious drug peddler, he has a track record of targeting local youth, posing a grave threat to public health and safety.
Investigations have revealed that the property was acquired from the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police formally seized and attached the house, ensuring that it cannot be sold, transferred, or dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.
Police officials stated that this action is part of a broader strategy to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks in Jammu and Kashmir. The department reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking, stressing its commitment to safeguard the community, especially the youth, from substance abuse.
Srinagar Police has appealed to the public to extend cooperation by sharing any information related to drug peddling. “Public support is vital in our collective fight against drugs. Together, we can build a safer, healthier, and drug-free Srinagar,” the police statement read.
